Well, Neighboring Still Leaves Us Speechless....

Hey friends! Happy Friday!

Towards the end of May, I wrote a blog titled, “When Neighboring Leaves You Speechless”. In it, I told a story about one of our neighbors inviting us over for a distanced dinner in her yard, and how by the end of the night, we decided to make these dinners together a weekly tradition. Well, this week, I’m here to say it…neighboring still leaves us speechless! Over the last couple of months, we have indeed been eating dinner with our neighbor almost every week, and it has been the most beautiful of things!

Last week, Catherine, Matt, and I had our neighbor over to our house for the first time, and it was so incredible! The weather was nice and warm, so we grilled all kinds of foods and made a couple of salads, and then our neighbor brought over a cake she had baked for dessert. With yet another feast, we sat down in our lawn chairs, with distance between us, and began to chat the night away. Yet again, the evening was just so joyful and filled with so much laughter! Our neighbor had just come back from a trip with her sisters (whom we were able to meet when we had dinner together the week before), so she told us all about trip. Then, like all of our dinners, the conversation began to spread to a range of subjects, this time including our music tastes, various political policies, pandemic statistics, our work, and so much more. It’s always so crazy how much we all learn about one another!

As previously mentioned, this was the first of our dinners together that took place in our front yard. Because our neighbor is so generous and also loves to cook, she just kept inviting us over her way! But this time, we insisted, and there was something so beautiful about getting to have her over our way. Even aside from the intimacy of having her over to our house, our weekly dinners became a little more reciprocal, as we were now able to do most of the cooking for the meal, which our neighbor appreciated. And so, our dinners will continue, and we now plan to take turns having the meals at each of our houses!

Isn’t this just so crazy?! And again, it’s all happened simply because our neighbor invited us over for dinner one time! Now we get to continue sharing these beautiful, joyful meals together on a weekly basis, and we are just so thankful for this ever-blossoming friendship!

Happy neighboring!
